ReNUWIt is committed to building an equitable and inclusive environment where all individuals can thrive. We believe that it is the responsibility of every member of ReNUWIt to adopt and advance practices that promote diversity and inclusion. The diversity of people and ideas is integral to our success as we work together to re-invent urban water infrastructure.
We work to increase the diversity of students and faculty at all educational levels by encouraging and supporting active involvement of groups that have traditionally been underrepresented in engineering, including both minorities and women. ReNUWIt supports the specific diversity objectives of NSF by including all members of society regardless of race, ethnicity, or gender in ERC activities. We aim to increase access for underrepresented groups to engineering and research through outreach and education.
Diversity and Inclusion Goals
- Recruit a diverse population of students and postdoctoral researchers
- Build an inclusive climate throughout ReNUWIt
- Expand our pipeline efforts
Diversity Advisory Board
ReNUWIt's Diversity Advisory Board (DAB), which is comprised of the Faculty & Staff and Student & Postdoc Committees on Diversity & Inclusion, advises the ReNUWIt Leadership Team on matters regarding equity, diversity, and inclusion among students, faculty, and outreach activities. The DAB works as a group to define goals, objectives, and metrics of success with respect to diversity and inclusion initiatives. By coordinating efforts within the DAB, we strive to increase involvement of underrepresented groups in all ReNUWIt activities. This entire group meets face-to-face once per year in conjunction with our annual all-hands ReNUWIt meeting; all ReNUWIt members are invited to participate in this meeting.
